The Floating Staircase

Inserting an open-tread stairway makes all the difference in this once-dark home, but getting there involved removing some walls and adding some windows. The resulting metal and wood stair system seems to float through the center of the house, introducing light and air to each of its three floors. It forms a great visual centerpiece to the other rooms which were all renovated and refreshed. The kitchen is also completely remodeled and, in a nod to our obsession with details, some of the stairway steelwork is echoed in the details on the island.
